Topeka customers may notice utility bill change, impacting vacant property owners
1 March 2024
TOPEKA (KSNT) – On Friday, the Shawnee County Appraiser will mail notices to property owners who’ve had changes in their assessed value or property classification.
Starting on Friday, March 1, 2024 Change of Value Notices will be sent to more than 65,000 property owners in the county. Notices won’t be sent out to property owners who haven’t had assessed value or classification changes.
Property owners who believe the value or classification isn’t accurate can file an appeal by April 1, 2024. If property owners don’t file by that day, they can file an appeal when they pay their taxes in December or the second half payment in May 2025.
If you don’t receive a notice but want information on your appraised property value or classification, you can visit the county appraiser’s real estate search website at www.snco.us/ap.
If you don’t get a notice in the mail, you can still appeal the appraised value. If you have questions or want to file an appeal you can call the taxpayer assistance phone number at 785-232-4461, contact the appraiser’s office at [email protected] or visit the office at 1515 NW Saline Street.
