WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A semi-truck overturned Thursday morning in Wichita, prompting a hazmat response.
It happened shortly before 10 a.m. on North Meridian at the K-96/I-235 junction. The semi tanker overturned on northbound Meridian near the I-235 on-ramp.
The tanker is leaking fuel, and crews are working to stop the leak and clean up the fuel spill. An alert has been sent to residents in the area to shelter in place while crews are working.
Residents who live between 37th Street North to I-235, from Meridian to Athenian, are asked to shelter in place. Traffic on Meridian is also closed between I-235 and 37th Street North.
The off-ramp from I-235 to Meridian is also closed until the situation is deemed under control and the accident has been cleared.
