Seaman girls’ basketball wins 5A state title

EMPORIA (KSNT) – The Lady Vikings of Seaman High are state champions.

Seaman girls’ basketball beat Maize South, 54-41, on Saturday in White Auditorium on the campus of Emporia State to earn the 5A crown.

SHS finishes the season 23-2 and beat previously undefeated Andover, the tournament’s top seed, in the semifinals on Friday. Seaman’s quarterfinal win came against De Soto on Thursday.

It’s the first state championship in girls’ basketball for Seaman since 1991, according to KSHSAA records.
