CHEYENNE COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — Plumbing problems have led to a third day of no school on Thursday for USD 297.
“More breaks in the main sewer line have been found, and the guys are working as hard as they can to fix them. The water has been shut off to most of the building and will remain off until we are confident the issues have been fixed,” said the St. Francis Community Junior/Senior High School Facebook page.
No school on Thursday has affected JH wrestling. It will now be in Oberlin. Wrestlers will leave at 1:30 p.m., with the dual starting at 4 p.m.
The plumbing issues started on Monday when a major sewer line collapsed, leaving the entire Junior and Senior High School without proper plumbing.
Work to fix the problem began on Monday afternoon and affected College Street, hence why the district was closed on Tuesday.
The district also canceled classes on Wednesday.
“Parents and Students: In spite of the great efforts of all those involved in addressing our plumbing issues at the school, it has become apparent that we need another day to complete the job,” said St. Francis Community Junior/Senior High School on Facebook. “There will be NO SCHOOL for USD 297 tomorrow, February 14. Please bear with us!”
