OSAGE CITY (KSNT) – The Osage City Police Department (OCPD) is warning residents of a scam impersonating police.
“Hopefully, most would not fall for it; however, there are those vulnerable to this scary scam,” Chief of Police Fred Nech said. “Please share with your family, friends, and even your neighbors.”
On Monday, the OCPD warned of scammers using software that “forge” the name and number of the department. According to the OCPD, the caller ID says “Osage City Police Department” and matches the police phone number.
The scammer will tell victims they have a warrant for their arrest and if they don’t pay, police will show up and arrest them.
