Kansas agencies report loss of service amid nationwide outage
21 March 2024
MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Police in Riley County are warning locals to steer clear of a website claiming to have ties to law enforcement.
The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) took to social media Thursday, March 21 to let people know the website rileycountyjail.org is making false claims about the availability of inmate information and mugshots. Police say this website is not sponsored or endorsed by the RCPD.
“We urge everyone to exercise caution when providing personal information online and to ensure that they are using legitimate and verified services. Protect your privacy and safety by verifying the authenticity of websites before engaging with them.”
RCPD social media statement
Officials say this website may lead users to other pay-for-service platforms that falsely claim to offer inmate information and mugshots. The RCPD said it does not release inmate information or give out mugshots on public forums.
