26 January 2024

RILEY (KSNT) – Riley County USD 378 District Superintendent Cliff Williams was placed on administrative leave.

At the regular USD 378 Board of Education meeting on Jan. 8, Board President Samantha Brown moved to place Williams on administrative leave with pay until a special meeting was held on Jan. 18. Williams was barred access to the Central Office or Administrative Offices.

The motion passed four to three with Board Vice President Justin Ricketts, Board Member Jeff Hancock and Board Member Nathan Mead in opposition. Brown motioned to appoint Dr. Erin Flair as interim superintendent. The motion was approved four to three with Mead, Ricketts and Hancock in opposition.

At the special meeting held Jan. 18, letters to reinstate Williams were shot down. Mead motioned to reinstate Williams based on a legal letter presented at the last board meeting. The motion failed three to four.

“Cliff Williams is currently on administrative leave with pay,” Flair said. “The law prevents us from sharing details about personnel situations, due to individual legal protections.”
