LAWRENCE (KSNT) – One of Lance Leipold’s assistant coaches is reportedly leaving KU for the SEC.
Co-defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson will be the safeties coach at Texas A&M, according to Football Scoop.
Peterson was a defensive analyst and safeties coach for the Jayhawks since 2020. He was elevated to co-defensive coordinator after the 2023 season. Peterson helped coach Cobee Bryant to first team All-Big 12 honors in 2023. He got the Jayhawks seven commits for 2024, including three four-star recruits.
27 News cannot yet confirm the news, but reactions from players in Peterson’s position group on X may indicate the rumors to be true.
Bryant replied to a fan that commented, “JP a [snake emoticon].”
Four-star recruit Jalen Todd shared a post of an emoticon with a hand over its face. Former safety Kenny Logan Jr. shared the same emoticon in a since-deleted post. Four-star recruit Deshawn Warner replied to Logan Jr.’s post with a broken heart emoticon.
