WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The American Red Cross continues to experience critically low levels in blood supply.
The organization attributes the shortage to winter storms hitting the country and the numerous cancellations of blood drives. The result is that 15,000 blood donations have gone uncollected in January alone.
The organization said as the country warms up, people are urged to make an appointment now to give blood or platelets by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Those who give blood from Feb. 1-29, 2024, will receive a $20 Amazon.com gift card by email. Visit RedCrossBlood.org/Heart for details.
