Quiet start to the week before rain and storms return

18 March 2024

High pressure is in the driver’s seat as we start the new week. Expect quiet and sunny conditions for your Monday.

A northerly breeze will be light but will also keep temperatures cool. Highs in the low 50s will be found farther east but Western Kansas will be milder and closer to average.

A southerly switch of our winds Tuesday gives us a boost into the upper 60s and 70s. We cool back down after that but even our cooler days will still be near the norm.

We know it will not stay quiet forever. We open the door to an unsettled pattern starting the middle of the week. A chance for showers and storms Wednesday favors the southern half of the area, especially around the Kansas/Oklahoma line.

So far, the threat of a strong to severe storm is south of the Kansas/Oklahoma line. We know how quickly things can change and we will need to monitor severe potential through the rest of the week.

A chance for rain and rumbles lingers Thursday. Coverage looks spotty and will not impact everyone at the same time.

If you have plans to be outdoors this weekend, keep a close eye on the forecast as wet weather could keep us indoors at times.
