MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The City of Manhattan announced a major road closure to remove and reconstruct the road, storm sewer and sidewalks that will impact the downtown area.
Starting today, the 300 Block of Houston Street will be closed between 3rd and 4th Streets, according to the City of Manhattan’s social media post. The closure will include the 3rd Street intersection and will shut down vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

A detour will be provided for 3rd Street on Pierre Street to 4th Street and then north to Poyntz Avenue and back to 3rd Street. The city said a temporary walkway may be provided to pedestrians.
Work is expected to last through the summer of 2024. Access to businesses in the area will be open over the next seven months.
