JUNCTION CITY, Kan (KSNT) – Police in Junction City say they’ve made major headway in combating the spread of a potentially deadly drug in their community.
The Junction City Police Department posted to Facebook Saturday, March 30 that over two weeks, they have made a breakthrough in their investigation of Fentanyl distribution in the Junction City community. The department says they have seized over 2,300 pills containing fentanyl, often called”Dirty 30s,” along with three kilograms of pure fentanyl blocks.

The department says that is enough fentanyl to cause approximately 1.5 million overdose deaths, potentially. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, amounts as little as 2mg can be a potentially lethal dose.
Remember, it’s not just a warning; it’s a reality that has affected many families across the nation. Remember, you should only ever consume medication that you receive from your doctor or pharmacy.

The DEA says counterfeit pills disguised as other opioids like Oxycodone continue to be distributed across the country. Overdose deaths from Fentanyl rose by 38.1% between 2020 and 2021.
Signs of overdose include:
Stupor
Changes in pupillary size
Cold and clammy skin
Blue discoloration of the skin
Respiratory failure
Coma
To help combat overdoses, Kansas is now one of many states that have Naloxone vending machines, allowing for 24/7 access to the lifesaving drug. They arrived in Wichita in February.
