Police say inmate attempted to strangle corrections officer in Manhattan

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – A corrections officer with the Riley County Police Department (RCPD) was listed as the victim of an alleged attempted strangling by an inmate.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 a 32-year-old female inmate allegedly tried to strangle a 37-year-old female corrections officer. The inmate was previously arrested on March 2 for failure to appear, according to the RCPD.

As a result of the alleged strangulation incident, the inmate was arrested again for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer (LEO), battery on an LEO and criminal destruction of property. The inmate was issued a $25,000 bond, according to the RCPD daily report.
