Poisoning risk to children prompts nationwide recall of mouthwash

29 February 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A brand of mouthwash sold at numerous retailers throughout the country is being recalled due to a poisoning risk to children.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said 102,100 containers of Heritage Store Hydrogen Peroxide Mouthwash is being recalled as the packaging of the products is not child-resistant, posing a poisoning risk to young children who swallow the mouthwash. The recalled product contains ethanol which must be securely placed in child-resistant packaging.

The recall includes mouthwash in wintermint and eucalyptus mint flavors. The bottles are dark brown in color with a white lid. The pink and white label on the front of the bottles bears the Heritage Store logo. Every lot produced for these mouthwash bottles is subject to the recall.

Pills sold nationwide contain poison, FDA warns

The mouthwash was sold through Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, Mom’s Organice Market, New Season’s Market and Mother’s Market & Kitchen. It was also sold through other stores nationwide and through online sources like Amazon, iHerb, HeritageStore.com and other websites from October 2010 through to December 2023.
