Party Wednesday in KC for Champion Chiefs

14 February 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Kansas City Chiefs fans are making their way to KC in anticipation of one of the biggest championship celebrations in Midwest history.

“That’s our element. We love being in stuff like that,” said Chiefs fan of the year Kelly Kennedy. “But we also have these kids to prep for state. These guys right here deserve a lot of credit for working hard for a long time.”

Kennedy just got back from the Super Bowl and is now planning a trip to KC for the championship parade on Wednesday. Immediately after the parade with his friend, Steve Crum, Kennedy will take his swim members to state from Campus High School.

“We always want our kids to have success,” said Crum. “And I suppose they can take away our passion for the Chiefs into their own lives. You get what you work for.”

Kennedy and Crum are still excited about the state swim meet on Thursday. But Wednesday is a nice finish for what they call a spectacular Chiefs season. And a dynasty they have been waiting on for many years.

“And that we want them to have success,” said Crum of the Chiefs. “And we spent a lot of years where they weren’t having success, but we were still up there. But we’re really enjoying this time.”

Kennedy and Crum are getting up early to take a car into KC.

Marcus Rodriguez with Lucky‘s Barber Shop in Newton is taking a van early Wednesday.

“I rented a van from Enterprise, and I’m taking an entourage, so yeah, we will be down there in all red,” said Rodriguez, who has his entire barber shop decked out in Chief’s memorabilia. “We’re expecting a huge crowd out there. They’re back-to-back champs. I’m so excited. I can’t wait to be down there.”

KSN will also be at the parade and will bring you the excitement on air and online. The victory parade starts at 11 a.m. and heads to Union Station. A rally in front of Union Station is expected to begin around 12:45 p.m. The coverage is expected to last until 1-1:30 p.m.
