Part of I-70 to close in Topeka this weekend

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Part of I-70 in Topeka will be closed this weekend while crews do pavement patching work.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced on Thursday, Feb. 29 that a stretch of westbound I-70 will be closed. The eastbound lane of I-70 will remain open.

I-70 will be closed from SE Adams Street to Topeka Boulevard starting on 11 p.m. on Friday, March 1 and is expected to last until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.

The last available exit will be at SE Adams Street. Detours will route drivers south to I-470 or north to K-4 to US 24 to US 75.

Alternatively, drivers can use a local street detour from SE Adams Street and 10th Avenue and Topeka Boulevard to the First Street I-70 on-ramp, according to KDOT. If crews determine that more patching work is needed additional closures may occur.
