WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Parents Kyle and Rebekah Vineyard welcomed their third son, Roman August Vineyard, on Thursday, Feb. 29, otherwise known as a “leap day.”

“He was born this morning, 9:58 a.m.,” said Rebekah. “He was 9 pounds, 1 ounce and 22 inches.”

Kyle says he did not realize it was the rarest day to have a baby until after the fact.

Rebekah’s due date for Roman was March 5.

“I kept saying he’s gonna be born on the 29th just because I want to avoid it and then here we are,” Rebekah said with a laugh. “At first, I was like really worried about if he was gonna get teased, you know, for having the 29th, or have problems with forms.”

Rebekah says it is going to be a lot of fun to celebrate Roman’s birthday.

“Just have a special birthday every four years, the 28th probably every other year,” said Rebekah.

Mom and baby, as well as dad, are doing great.
