OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Overland Park police investigated a suspicious package on a Blue Valley school property Monday but ultimately found nothing dangerous.
Police spokesman Officer John Lacy said the suspicious package was located near 124th Street and Switzer Road on the property line of Oak Hill Elementary School near a fence.
Blue Valley School District spokesperson Kaci Brutto said a teacher found an unattended bag with suspicious items inside during recess.
About two hours later, police gave the all clear after determining the bag was not dangerous.
Brutto said Oak Hill was not on lockdown but students were not allowed outside for the remainder of the day.
The school’s dismissal, scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Monday, was not delayed, and students were dismissed as normal.
However, Brutto said parents should expect some traffic changes for pickup so officers can continue investigating.
