HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — One person has been hurt in a house fire in Hutchinson.
It happened around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of East 5th Ave. The Hutchinson Fire Department says when crews arrived, a man was escaping through the front door.
Firefighters were able to get the person to safety. EMS took the victim to the hospital for further evaluation. Hutchinson Fire says crews were able to get the fire under control about 20 minutes later.

The house suffered extensive damage. No one else was found inside the home.
The cause remains under investigation, but the Hutchison Fire Department says there were no working smoke detectors in the house.
