One dead in multiple-vehicle crash southwest of Topeka

UPDATE 8:55 a.m.: A spokeswoman for the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office says there were two vehicles involved with three occupants. One person has been confirmed as dead.

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office is working the scene of a multiple-vehicle crash southwest of Topeka.

At 7:42 a.m., deputies responded to the scene in the 7800 block of SW 53rd Street. 53rd Street is currently shut down between Southwest Auburn Road and Southwest Indian Hills Road, according to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking motorists to use alternate routes such as SW 61st Street, SW 37th Street, and SW 29th Street.

Kandrive.org is showing traffic disruptions in both directions of SW 53rd St.
