One dead following crash southwest of Augusta

AUGUSTA, Kan. (KSNW) — One person is dead following a crash southwest of Augusta.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office says it happened shortly before 11 p.m. Friday at SW 110th Street and Santa Fe Lake Road. Deputies, along with Augusta Fire and EMS, responded to the report of a rollover.


Inmate dies at El Dorado prison

The sheriff’s office says a 2001 silver Ford Mustang was heading south on Santa Fe Lake Road when it left the road and entered the west ditch at high speed for an unknown reason. The car crashed through a barbed wire fence and overturned.

The car came to rest on its top just north of SW 110th Street. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was hurt.
