SAN JUAN COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – An out-of-control truck was captured on video crashing into a gas station in New Mexico on Sunday. Incredibly, the driver wasn’t seriously hurt.
The dashcam video was captured by Tyler Turner, who was on a road trip from Seattle to Mississippi.
Turner was pulling into the Speedway gas station in La Plata, located at 1241 NM Highway 170, when the truck came speeding into the parking lot and crashed into the gas pumps a few feet in front of his vehicle.
In the video, Turner can be heard yelling “Oh my God!”
The footage shows flames erupt from a pump as the canopy above the pumps crashes down.
After careening through the pumps, the truck finally comes to a stop after colliding with a metal fence. (In a follow-up video, Turner shared an image of the truck in the aftermath of the crash.)
The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said the accident took place just before 6 p.m. and that no one was injured.
Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in this incident. An investigation by the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the driver may have experienced a medical episode before the crash. The driver claimed to have no recollection of the event.
