15 February 2024
As expected, the next cold front is sagging south across the region. There is not much moisture associated with it just yet but we will see some as we get closer to the end of the work and school week.
You will begin to notice a change to our temperatures due to the front. We will not be as mild as mid-week but upper 40s and 50s will not be too chilly, especially with some sunshine.
After sundown there will be a small chance for a few raindrops to the north but most of us will stay dry.
We will need to watch out for a switch to a rain/snow mix as temperatures drop down to and below freezing. The best chance of this happening will be to the north but a few raindrops could be found farther south as we head into Friday.
The returning winter chill really settles in Friday and will linger through Saturday. Winter coats will still be needed during the warmest part of these days.
Early moisture Friday moves out by the afternoon but then there will be some trailing snow that moves in right behind it. This starts in Northwest Kansas during the evening and slides into Southwest Kansas during the overnight.
A few snow showers could stick around Southwest Kansas into Saturday morning, the rest of the day will be dry. Whether it is snow to the north or west, any accumulations should be less than 1″. We will begin to warm back up by the end of the weekend.
