New surface coming to Sedgwick County Park playground

8 February 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A new surface will be coming to the Sunrise Boundless Playscape at Sedgwick County Park.

The county says the playground surface suffered a weather-related issue, which caused wrinkles in the rubber turf.

The playground has been closed periodically for safety reasons as the rubber turf reacts to temperature fluctuations.

The Sedgwick County Parks Department has been working with the installation contractor, and due to these abnormalities, the contractor will be replacing the surface this spring. The project will take a week and a half to finish.
