National Weather Service issues winter weather advisories in Kansas

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Parts of Kansas are under winter weather advisories on Monday following a round of freezing rain and drizzle blankets the state.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is reporting multiple winter weather advisories for counties across Kansas on Jan. 22. Advisories being reported this morning include:

Cloud, Ottawa and Washington Counties until noon

Anderson, Brown, Clay, Coffey, Dickinson, Douglas, Franklin, Geary, Jackson, Jefferson, Lyon, Marshall, Morris, Nemaha, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley, Shawnee and Wabaunsee Counties until noon

Ellsworth, Harper, Kingman, Lincoln, McPherson, Reno, Rice and Saline Counties until noon

Allen, Butler, Chase, Chautauqua, Cowley, Elk, Greenwood, Harvey, Labette, Marion, Montgomery, Neosho, Sedgwick, Sumner, Wilson and Woodson Counties until noon

Johnson, Linn and Miami Counties until noon

Atchison, Doniphan, Leavenworth and Wyandotte Counties until 3 p.m.

Bourbon, Cherokee and Crawford Counties until noon.


Icy road conditions in Topeka

KSNT Stormtrack Meteorologist Becky Taylor said in her most recent weather report there are some slick spots on Kansas roads people will need to keep an eye out for due to the overnight freezing rain. Temperatures will move above freezing later in the day on Jan. 22 with another chance for rain in the evening hours.
