SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) — Salina residents want to know what is behind all the building fires this year. There was another one Friday morning, bringing the city’s total to 15 this year.
The Salina Fire Department says some of the fires are suspicious, but they have not yet determined the cause of the most recent fire.
The fire was at a home in the 1500 block of Louise Lane early Friday morning.
The first fire crews to arrive found a lot of flames coming from the split-level home. The people inside had already gotten out safely.
Firefighters had to focus their efforts on the outside of the home before they could finally get inside and extinguish the flames.
KSAL.com says all the recent fires prompted the Salina Fire Department to issue a community alert on Thursday. SFD wants people to be vigilant and notify authorities if they see or hear anything suspicious.
If there is imminent danger, call 911. Otherwise, you can call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 785-826-7210.
