More warmth and sunshine over the next few days

22 February 2024

We are now behind the latest system that is swinging through the region. It brought very little moisture to the area and winds behind it will be stronger than yesterday.

This northerly switch of our winds will mean a cooler day ahead. However, many high temperatures will still be pleasant and above average.

There will be some moisture nearby to the west later today but this will have a hard time making its way into our area so we will likely stay dry with a mixture of sunshine and a few clouds.

After the sun goes down, the breeze will relax and winds will turn lighter. For some of us, overnight and early morning temperatures have not been too bad the last couple of days but expect a colder start to Friday.

Temperatures will begin to warm back up into the weekend and we will return to the 70s by Sunday. It will also be dry, sunny, and breezy.

Conditions will be favorable for grassfires over the coming days. As you enjoy the outdoors please be mindful to not burn anything and discard cigarette butts properly. Winds will be even stronger into next week as another storm system swings through the Plains.

Moisture is not lining up all that well for the Sunflower State but there will still be a chance for rain by Tuesday with a few snowflakes possibly mixing in to the northwest. Brace yourselves for bigger drop in temperatures the middle of next week.
