Marijuana advocates plan to rally at Kansas Capitol

19 January 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Marijuana advocates in Kansas are making another push to legalize weed this year.

They are urging lawmakers to take action in 2024. Kansas is just one of a handful of states that has yet to legalize marijuana in any form.

Meanwhile, neighboring states like Colorado and Missouri are raking in millions of dollars after legalizing weed. Some people feel that it’s time for Kansas to get a slice of the pie.

Advocates are planning to show their support by rallying at the statehouse next week.

“From an economic standpoint, Kansas has much to gain from embracing what cannabis regulations will provide,” Co-Founder of Kansans for Hemp Kelly Rippel said. “Best practices for medical professionals, and basically in Kansas, we just need to come updated with the times.”

The event is Tuesday, Jan. 23. It starts at 9:30 a.m. on the second floor, north wing of the Capitol.
