Manhattan parents arrested for murder of 1-year-old daughter

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Police in Manhattan have made two arrests in the death of a one-year-old girl from last year.

The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) announced in a press release on Friday, March 8 that Matthew Paul Wesley Miller and Sonya Simone Lark Williams were arrested in connection to the death of their daughter Ziya Miller. Both parts are facing charges of first-degree murder.

RCPD spokeswoman Ashley Tokoi said police in Junction City were called on a report of a child not breathing in April 2023. Upon arrival, they found the girl had died in Manhattan before being taken to Junction City by Miller.

Miller is charged with murder in the first degree, aggravated endangering of a child and distribution of opiates. Williams is facing charges of murder in the first degree and aggravated endangering of a child. Both are currently confined at the Riley County Jail.
