Man arrested after firing at 3 vehicles on I-235 in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said a 20-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly shot at three vehicles on Interstate 235, just north of Central on Friday. It happened around 1:45 a.m.

Officers responded to the area after callers reported gunshots and observed a man walking along the median, discharging a firearm. Police arrested him.

Police learned that the man’s Jeep Cherokee was involved in a single-vehicle crash at 1900 N. Westdale. Police said they recovered a firearm and multiple spent cartridge casings. During the investigation, two men and a woman reported their vehicles being targets of gunfire. They were not injured.


El Dorado High School teacher arrested

Police say the 20-year-old man was booked on suspicion of three counts of aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle. He also is facing an alleged marijuana possession charge.
