Man airlifted to Wichita after being hit by car in Garden City

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man, 39, was airlifted to Wichita after being struck by a car in Garden City on Friday night.

A news release from the Garden City Police Department says at 9:20 p.m., Garden City police officers, the Garden City Fire Department, and Finney County EMS were dispatched to the intersection of N. Taylor Ave. and W. Kansas Ave. for the report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

An investigation found the man was walking across Taylor Ave. from the McDonald’s parking lot when he was hit by a 79-year-old man who did not see the pedestrian as he was walking through the street.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to Wichita due to the extent of his injuries.

No other injuries were reported from the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
