Local TikTok star is putting Topeka in the online spotlight

TOPEKA (KSNT) – One Topeka local highlights the good in the Capital City on social media.

Tevyn Harmon launched a rapidly growing TikTok page, and is showing off what Topeka has to offer.

Harmon started his account in 2020, mainly posting workout content. As his page has grown, he’s started showing more of what makes him who he is.

“Being the authentic me and opening up about what my life is, and my wife and my son, living with bipolar-2, and also being an athlete, being a business owner,” Harmon said. “Things like that, there’s just something new that your can do every day, and I think that’s one thing that kind of keeps me going.”

Harmon graduated from Topeka High School. His love for his hometown inspired his viral “I’m from Topeka” videos you may have seen on your For You Page.

“I just thought it would get a couple laughs, couple reactions on Facebook,” Harmon said. “Just kind of sharing and highlighting our city and just the different things that are going on in here, it’s just been amazing to be able to see the community come together and be like, ‘Oh I relate to that so much’.”

TikTok is a worldwide app, so it can be fun to see local content on such a wide platform.

“We’re representing Topeka, representing Kansas,” Harmon said. “It’s so cool to see how strong the community is here when they come together.”

While Harmon helps put northeast Kansas in the spotlight, he says it’s great connecting with a community outside the 785.

“Being able to connect and shine that light,” Harmon said. “We connect with people all over, from Australia to Scotland, all over the United States. Vegas, New Hampshire, Connecticut, I mean everywhere.”
