LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Hollywood let love rule and honored Lenny Kravitz on the Walk of Fame Tuesday afternoon.
His star is located in front of the historic Capitol Records Tower. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce awarded the Walk of Fame’s 2,774th star to Kravitz under the recording category.
The “American Woman” singer received the honor alongside daughter Zoë Kravitz and actor Denzel Washington. Both served as guest speakers for the induction ceremony.
“We’ve been through a lot. We’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen a lot,” Zoë said in her speech. “I’ve seen you change in the most beautiful ways. I’ve seen you stay the same in the most important ways. I’ve seen the way you show up and take care of the people you love. I’ve seen your incredible dedication to your art.”
Zoë, the musician’s only child, then took a moment to poke fun at her dad.
“Your relationship with a knitted shirt is probably your longest one, and it works. You two make each other better and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Washington praised Kravitz as “more than a friend” and “more than a brother.”
“We’re twins — we just don’t look alike,” Washington said.
After the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce declared March 12 as Lenny Kravitz Day in Hollywood, the 59-year-old said a few words.

Kravitz explained how he had moved to Los Angeles from New York when he was 11 years old and how the city means so much to him.
“I’m eternally grateful for everyone who took the time to be here today, but I’m especially honored to see the people that watched me evolve into an artist,” Kravitz said.
“There’s nothing that keeps me grounded more than seeing the people who have taken the journey with me all these decades,” he continued. “For everyone here, who has nurtured my dream…this is our star. Thank you all for this and let love rule.”
Other people in attendance were Zoë’s beau Channing Tatum, Verndine White and Evan Ross.
