LAWRENCE (KSNT) – KU men’s basketball could be adding home grown talent, but out of the transfer portal.

Lawrence native Zeke Mayo, a transfer from South Dakota State, has KU listed as one of four finalists for his recruitment out of the portal.

Mayo is also considering Texas, Oklahoma and Creighton, he revealed Saturday in a graphic on social media.

The Lawrence High School graduate averaged more than 18 points per game as both a sophomore and junior with the Jack Rabbits. He played 102 games in three seasons with SDSU.

Fans in the Sunflower State got a brief look at Mayo in the 2023-24 season when his team visited Kansas State. The LHS graduate scored 11 points and dished out six assists as SDSU lost to the Wildcats, 91-68.

Mayo is a 6-foot-4 guard who shot 39.1% from three-point-range as a junior.
