LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (WDAF) — A 48-year-old Lansing man has pleaded guilty in the November 2023 shooting death of Andrew Glenn Wiley.
According to Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson, Robert Quasa pleaded guilty on Friday, Feb. 9, on the charge of involuntary manslaughter.
On Nov. 3, 2023, Lansing police officers responded to a home where they found a person, later identified as Wiley, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Lifesaving efforts to save the victim were unsuccessful, and Wiley was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to court records, Quasa and a group of men had visited a local gun range earlier in the day to shoot guns. The men returned to Quasa’s home and were cleaning guns when Quasa’s handgun discharged a single round, striking Wiley.
While at the scene, Quasa told officers that he was teaching Wiley how to clean guns. Quasa stated he was showing how to remove a bullet from the chamber when his handgun “just went off.”
Quasa is scheduled for sentencing on March 13 at 1 p.m.
