LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Last season’s Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Year is starting the 2024 campaign right where he left off.
Kansas sophomore Kodey Shojinaga has been named the Big 12’s first Co-Player of the Week of the season, the conference announced Monday.
Shojinaga gets the honor after a line of .462/.533/1.077 at the plate with two home runs and five RBI in a three-game stretch against Illinois-Chicago. One of the two home runs was Shojinaga’s first-career grand slam.
This type of performance was expected for the sophomore coming into the year, being named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team in January.
