WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Kansas Humane Society’s Director of Communications Jordan Bani-Younes brought in Jonny, a lionhead rabbit, to KSN’s Pet Project Thursday afternoon.
Jonny arrived at the KHS Wednesday with 17 other rabbits.
“Seven of them were boys, the rest were all girls,” said Bani-Younes.
He says the girls are all in foster care to see if any of them are pregnant.
“The gestation period on rabbits is only about 30 days before they can become pregnant again. So they reproduce really, really fast. The average litter size is between four and 12,” said Bani-Younes.
All the males were put up for adoption. Jonny and his brothers Marlon Bundo and Harey Potter have already been adopted. David Hasselhop, iHop, Bunjamin Franklin and Hareison Ford are still available for $20 each. Click here for bonus photos of the boys.
Due to the uptick in the number of rabbits, Bani-Younes says the KHS is in need of donations now more than ever.
“We need food. We need hay, enrichment treats. Anything that people can give,” said Bani-Younes.
The KHS has an Amazon Wishlist.
The KHS’s Puppy Grams are now on sale ahead of Valentine’s Day. Each one will have a pawprint and a saying on it. They are $15 each. You can purchase them on kshumane.org.
