WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Wichita police SUV running with its lights and sirens was hit by a car at Interstate 235 and Central early Saturday, around 12:30 a.m.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a Chevy Aveo driven by a 40-year-old Wichita woman was exiting off of I-235 and turning west onto Central when the crash happened. The car hit the eastbound WPD Ford Explorer on the passenger side. The KHP report didn’t say if the driver of the Aveo had a green light.
The woman suffered a minor injury and was taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis. The 27-year-old officer wasn’t injured. The KHP report says both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
The intersection was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crash.
