KHP K9 officer injured in crash recovering at home

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Highway Patrol says K9 Igor, injured in a crash earlier this month, is now recovering at home, according to KHP Trooper Tod Hileman.

The crash happened on eastbound Interstate 70 in Ellis County, near the Walker exit.

The KHP had closed I-70 to have another vehicle moved from the highway. A semi hit the KHP vehicle head-on. Igor was the only one inside the KHP vehicle.

Trooper Budke, Igor’s handler, thanked Hillside Veterinary Clinic in Hays and Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University for the care provided.

The troopers escaped injury in the crash.
