CLAY COUNTY (KSNT) – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has arrested a former Kansas undersheriff.

KBI agents arrested Harold Stellner, 55, Friday afternoon after he turned himself into the Clay County Jail on allegations of mistreating a confined person. Stellner faces a class A misdemeanor charge.

The KBI initiated this investigation after the Clay County Sheriff an alleged incident at the Clay County Jail on Sept. 29 during which Stellner is accused of unlawfully string an inmate. He has since been terminated by the sheriff’s office.

The investigation is ongoing. The Kansas Attorney General’s Office is expected to prosecute the case.
