TOPEKA (KSNT) – A District 90 Kansas representative was arrested on Monday in Shawnee County.
52-year-old Carl Fredrick Alexander Maughan, a Colwich Republican, was booked on charges of possession of a firearm while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, failure to give signal when changing lanes or turning and improper driving on a laned roadway, according to the Shawnee County daily booking report.
Maughan ran for the Kansas House of Representatives to represent District 90 in 2022. He won the general election on Nov. 8, 2022. District 90 includes a large portion of Sedgwick County and includes parts of Wichita.
Maughan was assigned to the Corrections and Juvenile Justice Committee, Financial Institutions and Pensions Committee, House Judiciary Committee, Rules and Journal Committee and the Special Claims Against the State Committee, according to Ballotpedia.org.
Maughan bonded out and was released later that afternoon after being detained for 10 and a half hours, according to the daily booking report.
