Kansas Shrine Duals wrestling event raises $25K

27 March 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals has raised $25,000 for Shriner’s hospitals.

The event, organized by the Kansas Shrine Bowl, brought 56 of the state’s top high school senior girls and boys wrestlers to Newman University in Wichita on March 17th. The inaugural event organized by Shrine Bowl of Kansas, Inc., raised money for Shriner’s Children’s, the non-profit healthcare system of 22 hospitals across North America that provide pediatric specialty care to children up to 18 years old, regardless of their family’s ability to pay for service. In addition, they also conduct medical research, and teaching programs for medical professionals.

“All of Kansas Shrine All-Star Events are produced with one big goal in mind; to make the biggest impact possible on the lives of the children served by Shriners Children’s Hospital,” says Brice Kesler, Executive Director in a news release. “We’re excited that a first-time event, like the KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals, was able to have such a significant impact towards that goal. Both the financial contribution generated and the opportunity to spread awareness for our cause, which was created by this event, will make a tremendous addition to the overall impact Kansas Shrine All-Star Events will have for Shriners Children’s Hospitals in 2024.”

The 51st Annual Kansas Shrine Bowl weekend will take place June 27-29 in Emporia. A variety of activities will be held in Emporia, leading up to the Shrine Bowl, which will be played at Welch Stadium at Emporia State University.
