Voters must be registered as Democrats or Republicans in order to cast a ballot. If you are unaffiliated, you can still vote as long as you declare a party at your polling place.
In Sedgwick County, Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater isn’t expecting a high turnout. So far, it is below 5%.
“My belief is every voter should vote in every election they are eligible to vote in. It’s the foundation of our country. We are a privileged country that allows our citizens the opportunity to vote and have input,” she said.
The polls open in Sedgwick County at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Elsewhere in Kansas, polls open at 7 a.m.
Voters must deliver mail ballots to election workers by 7 p.m. There is no three-day grace period.
