K-State’s Tang says team is ‘in a really good situation’ despite losses

MANHATTAN, KS. (KSNT) – K-State men’s basketball is looking to bounce back from a weekend loss at BYU against TCU this Saturday.

The ‘Cats have lost five of their past six games after starting 14-4 on the season and 4-1 in Big 12 play. However, head coach Jerome Tang says the numbers are nothing to be concerned about.

“We’re in a really good situation,” Tang said to media in a press conference Thursday. “We’re where we thought we could be right now.”

At the beginning of January, Tang said it was going to take nine conference wins to get back to the NCAA tournament. K-State currently has five Big 12 wins and four more homes games coming up.

Even through adversity, Tang says his message to his team hasn’t changed since day one of the season.

“My message is let’s go 1-0,” Tang said. “Let’s go 1-0 in our film sessions, let’s go 1-0 in practice. They’ve got school right now, want them to go 1-0 in taking care of that business. We’re going to come back this evening and watch some more film, I want them to go 1-0 then.”

He says it’s a one-game season, focusing on things from game to game.

K-State hosts TCU at Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 17. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. and coverage is on ESPNU.
