MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Wildcats are going dancing… just not in the big dance.
K-State men’s basketball will play in the NIT. The Wildcats were selected to play in the bottom right bracket and will meet three-seed Iowa in the opening round of the 32-team tournament.
The ‘Cats wound up on the wrong side of the bubble for the NCAA tournament, despite Jerome Tang’s opinion being that his team has done enough to earn a bid.
K-State enters NIT play 19-14 overall. The ‘Cats finished 8-10 in conference play before going 1-1 in the Big 12 tournament. It’s the first time missing the NCAA tournament under Jerome Tang, after K-State made an Elite 8 run in 2023.
K-State men’s basketball has now made the NCAA tournament just once in the last five seasons.

The Wildcats will make their eighth NIT appearance and first since 2009.
Its a return to the consolation tournament for K-State senior guard Tylor Perry, who won the whole thing with North Texas last season.
