11 April 2024

JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) – The Junction City YMCA is calling on community supporters to help pay for some urgent repairs.

On Thursday, the Junction City Family YMCA announced it is raising funds for necessary repairs and updates. Executive Director Amber J. Stanley says the YMCA needs to make repairs to its basketball floor. The current floor has a rubber floor that has split in multiple places over the years.

Stanley says the biggest use for the court is for high school and middle school kids basketball. The YMCA also holds practices for K-Sixth grade leagues.

The YMCA has priced a new floor that can be installed over the current one. The price of the floor will be between $40,000-$43,000.

“I realize this is a lofty goal, but I truly believe that keeping our YMCA a safe place where children want to come will benefit the community,” Stanley said in the press release. “Our kids can change the world, I know deep in my heart that change CAN happen.”
