Junction City Fire tests fire hydrants this April

1 April 2024

JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) – The Junction City Fire Department will be testing fire hydrants citywide starting April 1.

Firefighters are testing hydrants to ensure those in the city are operable for firefighter standards. The hydrants will be tested during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday over the next two weeks. Due to testing during operating hours, the department is not confident on when and where testing will be taking place in a specific area.

The department will be testing in Zone 213 (East of Highway 77 and South Marys Road to Goldenbelt Boulevard) and Zone 215 (South of I-70, and west of Highway 77 Industrial Park Area).

Operating the hydrants for testing may cause temporary discoloration in water in nearby homes, that can be solved by running the water for a couple of minutes.
