Jayhawks get revenge on Wildcats with blowout win in Sunflower Showdown

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Jayhawks got revenge with a blowout win over rivals Kansas State Wildcats on Tuesday, 90-68.

The Jayhawks had four players finish in double figures, with Kevin McCullar leading the scoring with 19. Nick Timberlake (18), KJ Adams (16) and Hunter Dickinson (15) all joined him in double-digit scoring.

Dickinson also finished with 20 rebounds, and as a team the Jayhawks outrebounded the Wildcats 40-36.

Kansas State was led in scoring by William McNair who scored 17. David N’Guessan and Arthur Kaluma scored 10 points a piece.

As a team, Kansas State shot 44.4% from the field and 31.8% from three while the Jayhawks shot 45.2% and 46.2% respectively.

From the charity stripe, Kansas made the most of its opportunities while Kansas State did not. The Jayhawks shot 90.3% from the free throw line, 28-of-31, while Kansas State shot a dismal 47.6%, 10-of-21.

Turnovers played a big factor in the game, as Kansas State committed 11 while KU only committed six.

The win moves Kansas to 22-8 overall and 9-7 in conference, while Kansas State dropped to 17-13 and 7-10 in conference.

The regular season wraps up Saturday, with the Jayhawks heading to Houston to play the No. 1 Cougars at 3 p.m. and the Wildcats staying home to host No. 6 Iowa State at 1 p.m.
