Iowa woman killed, 3 injured in crash on icy Kansas highway

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – An Iowa woman was killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 56 in Morton County. The crash happened around 1:15 p.m. on Monday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Ford F150 was traveling east when it hit a patch of ice and struck a westbound GMC Terrain head-on.

Loretta M. Panther, 64, of Iowa City, was a passenger in the GMC Terrain. She died in the crash. Troopers say she was the only one not wearing a seat belt.

The pickup driver was an Elkhart woman. The woman driving the SUV and a male passenger are from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They are all in their 30s.

Their injuries range from minor to serious. They were taken to Morton County Hospital.
