Garden City canvassing neighborhoods to assess damage following severe weather

EL DORADO, Kan. (KSNW) – The El Dorado Correctional Facility says one of its inmates died Monday morning.
Officials say John Lewis Wardrup, 39, was found unresponsive in his cell. Prison staff and EMS tried to revive him but could not.
The Kansas Department of Corrections says an independent autopsy will be done to determine how Wardrup died. It is policy to have both KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation investigate inmate deaths.
Wardrup was convicted of multiple crimes over the years, including attempted rape and drug use in Atchison County and theft and forgery in Doniphan County.
He was most recently serving time for violating the Kansas Offender Registration Act in Sedgwick County.
